When The National Girls Collaborative Project and Time Warner Cable decided to split The Connectory database of national STEM opportunities away from the NGCP and Connect A Million Minds, they contracted Rebellion Design to create the new branding, user experience, and visual design.
We worked closely together with all the organizations to create a very family friendly researching experience for parents to find interesting STEM programs in their local areas to send their children.
User Experience Design
The primary challenge was to transform essentially big, gnarly database search results into a friendly and easy to understand experience designed specifically to help alleviate the emotional anxiety brought on by making decisions about children’s education.
We designed a simple initial search interface along with meaningful filters and sorting functions to help narrow down choices. Opportunities themselves were fully redesigned to organize information and make them easy to scan and understand.
In addition, we created an entirely separate experience for creating and maintaining new opportunities for the program organizers and after school programs.
The final result is a fun, friendly, and simple responsive website that empowers parents and providers to connect and grow the number of children participating in STEM activities.
We had a very well received launch of The Connectory at the National Afterschool Association Event. I want to express my appreciation on behalf of all of us here at NAA for your outstanding work on the site. All of the educators we have talked with at our booth and in our sessions have been enthusiastic about the site and especially appreciative of the wonderful design! Thank you so much for your outstanding work.”
